Kansas Landscape paintings by - M. Alison

Robert Sudlow, once said, “When you paint, you become part of the landscape and the
Landscape becomes part of you”. Even though I understood what he said, the true meaning of
it was felt when I painted a purely fantasized Kansas landscape, yet so real in essence, titled,
“Dreaming of Kansas”.
As I gazed at my bare canvas and thought of Kansas, emotions ran deep as I imagined, the
vastness of  prairie lands decorated with grassy soft hills and farm lands, rows of trees
stretching into horizon in harmony with the sky above. Through the land, a road, that takes us
on a journey and fades us into it’s beauty and peacefulness. Finally, creeks and ditches that
have been engraved with running rain water, unearthing the lime stones beneath, while giving
life to wild flowers and plants, creating a seasonal symphony.  For 35 years, Kansas has
become part of me, as I find myself peacefully lost and part of it.
